The World Health Organization on Acupuncture

In 2003, the World Health Organization (WHO) and the National Institute of Health (NIH) released a report called “Acupuncture: Review and Analysis of Reports on Controlled Clinical Trials.”  The report identified 28 diseases, symptoms, or conditions for which acupuncture has been proven to be an effective form of treatment. In addition, the report recognized acupuncture as having therapeutic effects on over 55 diseases, symptoms, and conditions. Below you will see a list of some of the conditions mentioned in that report.

Musculoskeletal Conditions

  • Muscle pain, swelling, stiffness and weakness
